K-5th:  NEW!!  Singapore math.  We are excited to have a  formal math component to our Heritage days.  We added K-3 math in 2020-2021 and plan to add an additional grade level each year until we have Singapore math offered for K-6th.  

 

Kindergarten:  Singapore Math Essential Math A and Essential Math B

First Grade: Singapore Math Primary Mathematics 1A and 1B, plus home instructor's guide

Second Grade:  Singapore Math Primary Mathematics 2A and 2B, plus home instructor's guide

Third Grade:  Singapore Math Primary Mathematics 3A and 3B, plus home instructor's guide

Fourth Grade:  Singapore Math Primary Mathematics 4A and 4B, plus home instructor's guide

Fifth Grade: Singapore Math Primary Mathematics 5A and 5B, plus home instructor's guide

6th Math Skills:    Heritage does not offer elementary math for 6th grade at this time, other than our one hour Math skills/math lab class on Tuesday and Thursday. The math skills portion of class is focused on learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts in a fun and competitive environment.  For the math lab time in class, students will BYOMA (bring your own math assignment) to complete on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after the skills portion of class.  

Seventh Grade through High School 

NEW!! We now offer Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II at Heritage

 

PreAlgebra is usually taken in 7th or 8th grade.  It reinforces arithmetic operations and teaches integers, fractions, decimals, percents, order of operations, geometry, graphing, measurement, and the solving of simple linear equations. Click here for placement test. 

 

Algebra I is usually taken in 8th or 9th grade.  Algebra 1 lays the foundation for higher-level mathematics and science training. Topics include functions, linear equations, linear systems, absolute value, linear inequalities, polynomials, and factoring. Click here for placement test. 

Geometry is usually taken in 9th or 10th grade (after completion of Algebra I).  The course covers geometric reasoning through postulates, theorems, and proofs (Euclidean geometry). Topics include area, volume, surface area, transformations, symmetry, logic, polygons, proofing, congruence, circles, similarity, and beginning trigonometry. Algebra II is usually taken in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
